In our quest to source as much as possible for the United States, we designed what we couldn’t find made here. Our woodworking partner is located in New York and sources all the wood used for our dispenser lids from scraps reclaimed from boat and dock projects. Our dispenser lids can hold up against any moisture!

When full, the cap on top measures one ounce of liquid laundry soap.

The measuring cap sits easily on top of the lid. It is not tight-fitting. The measuring cap is not meant to be a seal for the lid, it is meant to be an easy-to-remove measuring cap.

How To Use This Laundry & Stain Remover Bundle?

Laundry Concentrate

The laundry concentrate MUST be dissolved in water first! But no real effort is required. Just drop the bar into water and let it dissolve overnight.

Use regular tap water. No hot water, no stirring or mixing required.

Each bar dissolves to make ONE GALLON of liquid laundry soap, giving you 128+ loads of laundry, depending on your laundry load size and stink. That is less than $0.20 per load!

If you can handle dissolving sugar in water, you can make this laundry detergent. Tangie Laundry is a concentrated paste-to-liquid formulation you dissolve at home by placing the bar (or pieces of the bar) into a container of your choice and filling that container with water. That’s all it takes

Stain Remover Bar

Keep the paper wrapper on the bar. Before use, hold the bar in your hand and push the bar out or peel the wrapper down to expose a usable section of the stain remover. Hold the bar between your fingers and rub the stain remover directly onto the stain, launder & smile!

PRO TIP. Wet the stained area of fabric first, it helps the bar to glide over fabric. Less effort to cover more areas of fabric.

For non-machinable items (pillows, drapes, rugs, pet beds, etc), use a bucket of water and rag/sponge to remove the stain remover bar by dabbing the area with water and using a towel to soak up the excess water. Let air dry before covering.

Laundry Dispenser Lid

Fill the 16-ounce jar with water.
Screw the wood dispenser lid onto the glass jar.

Cut the bar into 8 equal parts.

Cut the bar along the long side first. Then cut the bar in half twice on the short side. That will give you 8 equal pieces.

Drop one part (about .35 gram) into the 16-ounce glass jar
Let it sit until dissolved.

No real effort required. Just drop the piece of Tangie laundry detergent into the water, and it will completely dissolve in several hours. Use regular tap water. No hot water, no stirring or mixing required.

What ingredients we don’t use and why

SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES are exempt from labeling requirements and regarded as “trade secrets”. There is no way to determine what the individual ingredients are and may include phthalates. These have been linked with aggravation of asthma, headaches, allergic reactions and possible long term central nervous system disorders.
Sadly, the same chemical used to preserve a body when it dies is also an additive in many detergents like dishwashing and laundry products. The EPA and CDC say it is a probable carcinogen, even with even at low level exposure.
AMMONIUM SULFATE. May cause respiratory irritation. Another ingredient that can lead to poor indoor air quality.
OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS. Using chemical fluorescent blue dyes, optical brighteners are added to laundry detergents to make fabric appear brighter and whiter. It is merely an optical illusion. Since wearing clothes keeps your skin in constant contact with this chemical dye, it can harmful to your skin and lungs.
SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS)/SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) There are nearly 16,000 studies in the PubMed science library about the toxicity of this chemical that can be found on the SLS page on Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) website. It is present in nearly all shampoos, scalp treatments, hair color and bleaching agents, toothpastes, body washes and cleansers, make-up foundations, liquid hand soaps, and laundry detergents. Although SLS originates from coconuts, the chemical is anything but natural.
1,4-DIOXANE Any discussion of SLS/SLES must include a discussion of 1,4 dioxane because the manufacturing process of SLS/SLES results in its being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane—a known carcinogen. (NOT to be confused with Dioxin)
PROPYLENE GLYCOL is Primarily used as a solvent and an aid to absorption through the skin. The main concerns are that this material may be a primary skin irritant and there are possible links to liver abnormalities and kidney damage.
TRICLOSAN Primarily added to cosmetics as an anti-bacterial agent. It belongs to a class of chemicals known as chlorophenols and is suspected of causing cancer in humans.
PHOSPHATES Phosphorous is like a fertilizer in our water system. It increases algae and aquatic weed growth, the oxygen needed for healthy fish and aquatic life is depleted.

What Is The Shelf Life of The Laundry Soap Bar After Its Dissolved?

After the laundry paste is dissolved, we recommend you use it within 6 months, with the caveat that water is the breeding ground for mold. Of course, mold has a hard time growing on soap, but if you feel you won’t be using up the dissolved laundry concentrate within 6 months, cut the bar in half and make less.

What is the Shelf Life Of Tangie’s Laundry Bar Soap?

The bar has a long shelf life of 3+ years. The outside of the bar will develop soap ash, which will not look prett,y but it is completely safe and will not reduce the efficacy of the soap. We recommend you store the bar in a dry location.

Does The Laundry Bar Work With Cold Water??

We recommend cold/cool washes. How laundry gets done is a personal preference, but the end result is that soap is the carrier to remove dirt and bacteria, and the water washes it all away. Load size should always be considered. Do not overstuff. The water needs to have enough space to wash the clothes and adequate room to rinse away the dirt. Using cold water works great with Tangie laundry concentrate. Thank you for asking!

Do I Need More Laundry Bar For Older Washing Machines?

Not really. It depends on how many clothes you load in at one time. If the machine fills the tub all the way with water, you may want to start with one ounce of dissolved Laundry Concentrate and see how it goes for you.

Does The Laundry Soap Bar Lead To Any Oil Build-Up?

It has been documented in blogs that homemade laundry soap can damage clothes and leave a build-up in washing machines. Tangie Laundry Concentrate doesn’t fit the description of the homemade type of soaps. Our formula uses yucca root powder and soap nuts liquid in the base. which are natural saponins, or natural detergents. Oil buildup has not been reported to us by users. We’ve had reports from some front-load machine users that the smell they used to have in their machine using traditional liquid laundry detergent went away after using Tangie Laundry. Not sure why that is but we were happy to hear it and share their experience.

Can the Laundry Concentrate be used to clean makeup brushes?

Yes, and it works great! It cleans effectively and rinses easily. Actually, Tangie Hand Wash Concentrate also works well to clean makeup brushes. Simply rinse the brushes out by hand, apply some soap, and rub the bristles between your fingers, the rinse well. Just like washing your hands, scrub for at least 20- 30 seconds. Depending on the makeup level on the brushes, you may need to wash and rinse two times.

What Is The Load Size I Need To Use For The Liquid Laundry?

Half an ounce to 1 oz, depending on load size and dirt level. Try one half ounce for clothes that are not super dirty or stinky. Adjust up from there per your needs and load size.

What are your recommended guidelines to use your laundry soap to handwash clothes?

Depending on how many items you wash at one time by hand, I would start with 1/4 ounce of Laundry Concentrate Bar after you dissolve it.

Can I use your laundry soap in my high effeciency washing machine?

Yes, it is great for HE because it is a very low-sudsing formula.

Can I use this in a machine that auto-fills detergent?

Your machine will ask what the concentration level is. Once you dissolve the Tangie Laundry Concentrate, it is a 3x concentrate for your machine.

What kind of water should I use to dissolve the laundry detergent paste?

Tap water is fine unless you have really heavy iron well water. Then, filtered water is recommended.

I’m going on a road trip and was wondering if your soaps are safe to use in the wild? I will likely be camping in places with no septic system.

Our soaps are made with natural ingredients and are biodegradable. However, it is always recommended, for all soaps, to be used and disposed of at least 200 feet away from any body of water.

How Long Does the Laundry Bar Take to Dissolve?

Sometimes you need to do laundry right away. We get it! Our zero-waste laundry detergent is a concentrated paste and takes several hours for one bar to completely dissolve. If you need soap sooner, cut the bar into 16 pieces and dissolve one piece in a glass with 8 ounces of warm water. Stir it around a few times, and it will be dissolved in about an hour.
